Orleton & District Gardening Club

Sunflower
We are a friendly club of approximately 120 members ranging from the novice to the experienced gardener.

We meet on the last Tuesday of each month in Orleton Village Hall at 7:30 for 8:00 pm when we have an interesting speaker.

There is always a plant stall where some excellent bargain plants can be purchased, and a raffle with worthwhile prizes. At the end of the evening there is an opportunity to chat to fellow members over a cup of tea and a biscuit (free!).

Annual membership is £5 (due each January) and there is no charge for meetings.

Two shows are held each year: the first in June, where all entries are of the flowering kind, and the second in August when vegetables, flowers, pot plants, cookery, preserves and floral arrangements are exhibited with friendly rivalry among the exhibitors. At the end of the show we hold an auction, amid much hilarity, of left-over produce.

The July monthly meeting is what we call the “Supper Evening”, when our members provide a buffet meal and we can sit and enjoy a chat with our friends. The December meeting is the A.G.M. and we have a similar buffet meal. On this occasion we collect the seeds which we order from a well-known supplier, and which we are able to buy at a large discount.

We also have at least two coach outings a year to places of interest to gardeners, as well as a club dinner in March and a club lunch in November.

We are affiliated with the RHS

Come along to any meeting. We are always glad to see new members.

You can be sure of a warm welcome.
